TRAINING: I went to school for photography and art in Germany, then I assisted seven years at the side of major and famous photographers around the globe – I was based in NY and have worked there for three years.

BIO: Impressionist. Expressionist. Surrealist. Stefan Milev photographs sending out rays of sensual poetry! He gives his pictures a subtle aura of mystery and stands with his work between photography and painting. Stefan Milev displays a highly artistic photographic identity towards the relationship between the model and his very personal technique of painting with light. As a result, Milev’s picturesque meaning of photographs uncover a unique and multiplex sense for the Zeitgeist in photography. Milev, first and foremost recognized as a pictorialist, continues the tradition of Fine Art photographers from the early 19th Century such as Alvin Langdon Coburn and George Seeley.

Please describe your artistic themes
I’m trying to give pictures creative expression, sense of mystery and beauty. To capture emotion, mystic and soul, of the people who are looking into the camera.

Simple and unique.
What are your artistic goals?
I’m trying to continue the tradition of Fine Art photographers from the 19th Century.
What are your views on the industry?
Time is money = quality drops. Too many DIY people, who are at the same time photographers, film makers, retouchers, stylists, blogger etc – We have a “non-creative” era where people just consume what ever they see on a huge billboard. I’m afraid it’s is going into the wrong direction. Where are the successors of the renowned photographers and icons like Irving Penn, Peter Lindbergh, Avedon, Jim Rakete, Helmut Newton, Roversi or Tim Walker? I don’t see any.
What advice would you give to emerging artists?
We should always try and do things without wasting too much thought about it before.
