GAIL DAUGHTRY AND THE CELEBRITY SEX PASS
NEW YORK, NY (September 22, 2026) — THE ARTISTS FORUM was invited to attend a press screening of Gail Daughtry and the Celebrity Sex Pass ahead of its New York premiere at the 2026 Tribeca Festival. The film’s New York premiere was subsequently held at the OKX Theater at BMCC Tribeca Performing Arts Center.
Gail Daughtry and the Celebrity Sex Passis a comedy about what happens when a seemingly perfect relationship is disrupted by a hypothetical agreement that suddenly becomes very real. Directed by David Wain and written by Wain and Ken Marino, the film stars Zoey Deutch, Jon Hamm, John Slattery, Ken Marino, Miles Gutierrez-Riley, Ben Wang, Sabrina Impacciatore, and Michael Cassidy. The film was released by Sony Pictures Classics.
High school sweethearts Gail Daughtry and Tom are planning to get married and live happily ever after. Then the hypothetically impossible happens.
Tom, played by Michael Cassidy, takes advantage of the couple’s celebrity sex pass after meeting Jennifer Aniston at a book signing. Gail, played by Zoey Deutch, is devastated by his betrayal. Her best friend Otto, played by Miles Gutierrez-Riley, convinces her to join him on a trip to Los Angeles for a hairdressers’ convention to get her mind off her fiancé and the situation back home.
Once Gail arrives in Los Angeles, things become considerably more complicated. Her case of hairdressing brushes is accidentally switched with an identical case belonging to an Italian assassin, Ludovica, played by Sabrina Impacciatore. The other case contains plans connected to a scheme involving the destruction of the world’s economy.
Gail then receives a very convincing psychic reading. She is advised that the only way to save her relationship is to even the score by using her own celebrity sex pass. Her choice is Jon Hamm.
Thus begins Gail’s quest to find Jon Hamm, with the assistance of Otto, Caleb, played by Ben Wang, Vincent, played by Ken Marino, and John Slattery, who plays a fictionalized version of himself. The unlikely group sets off on a journey through Los Angeles while being pursued by Ludovica and her henchmen.

The film has the feel of a modern-day Wizard of Oz, with Gail leaving her familiar world and finding herself surrounded by increasingly strange characters and situations. The journey to find Jon Hamm becomes much more important than simply getting even with Tom.
There are numerous celebrity cameos throughout the film, including Jennifer Aniston and Weird Al Yankovic, which add to the surreal quality of the story. The parade of recognizable faces also contributes to the feeling that Gail has wandered into a Hollywood fantasy where almost anything can happen.
I won’t give away the ending, but the merry band has plenty of adventures along the way. There is also a highly improbable fight involving John Slattery, who manages to come out on top. All of this eventually leads Gail closer to the “wizard” himself, Jon Hamm.
Everyone seems to be having a great time in this film. I had the impression that the filmmakers invited many of their friends and fellow performers to appear in cameos or supporting roles, and that sense of fun comes through on screen. The comedy does not take itself too seriously, and the increasingly improbable situations are clearly part of the joke.
Gail Daughtry and the Celebrity Sex Pass is light, airy entertainment with an intentionally ridiculous premise. It is a film about betrayal, friendship, celebrity fantasies, and the lengths people will go to in order to even the score. The result is an unconventional Hollywood adventure that offers plenty of playful moments and a cast that appears to be enjoying the ride.
