INTERVIEW

Please describe your artistic themes
Anti-ignorance, anti-discrimination, unity, sexuality, phobia, social injustice… I can’t tell people what to think, I can only tell them my perspective. Many of the songs are about relationships and the beauty of it. I’d like them to leave the song enjoying it, and to be open minded about the message.

Please describe your creative process
I like to sit back and play on the piano, let it flow and write from there.

What are your artistic goals?
To get the music heard. To work with great producers and collaborators. To be signed to a record label. To continue to grow. To also pursue my acting interests.

What are your views on the industry?
I realize I can create what I want to do and get it out there to people, as many people as I want to, by myself. I can’t get it to an international level at this point, but it doesn’t mean that I can never do that. So, I don’t feel any injustice from the record companies because [I am not signed yet.] No one is controlling me and no one is telling me what I have to do. And, I’m not saying that all artists are controlled, but at the same time, I’m totally cool with what I’m doing, and I don’t feel any bitterness. And if there is someone that does well, and succeeds, and is successful, I say more power to them… I really do. I don’t feel any kind of jealously or any of that sort, because it’s not what I’m about. [Basically,] I feel very happy about what I’m doing because no one can control me or stop me from putting stuff out that I want to do.

What advice could you give to emerging artists?
Surround yourself with people who believe in you. Get out there and be seen and heard. Experience life… Don’t limit yourself. Doing other odd jobs can make you grow as a person.
