ALREADY FAMOUS (SINGAPORE, 2012)
LOS ANGELES, CA (December 30, 2012) Ah Kiao (Michelle Chong) works in her family DVD rental store in a Malaysian small town. She desperately wants to become a famous actress. With the blessings of her grandmother, she sets out with the belief that with luck, blessings from a charm her grandmother gave her, and her own fortitude, she will make it big as an actress in Singapore.
Like many who pursue their dreams, she quickly finds out that the obstacles far outweigh a great desire. But, Kiao is determined to reach her goal no matter what she has to endure. While on her way, she befriends a shy coffee boy, Christopher / Ah Seng (Alien Huang), who supports her with his admiration and belief in her.
Slowly, as more and more of her naive illusions are wiped away with hard reality, Ah Kiao begins to find her step. Walking within a grounded reality and with some well placed luck, her dreams begin to come together. Already Famous rides beautifully on the skills of the handsome and wonderful cast of performers led by Chong. Fresh performances with unusual characters make you smile with delight throughout the entire story. It is no doubt due to Chong, who is also the film’s producer, director and writer.
