The Artists Forum Exclusive Interview with Matthew A. Cherry

LOS ANGELES, CA (October 22, 2012) The Last Fall, by filmmaker Matthew A. Cherry has already received stellar notices. The story is semi-autobiographical: A young man who plays for the NFL for several years finds himself out of work. He, like many whose career comes to an impasse, returns home to his family to sort out the beginning of his new life.

What our director wants us to understand is that you never know what tomorrow will bring. In this case, the young man meets the loose ends he thought he would never need to worry about, given his successful position in the NFL.

We experience with him the new choices he has to make through yet another rebirth. Beautiful performances all around by Lance Gross, Nicole Beharie, Vanessa Bell Calloway, Obba Babatunde, and Keith David in his insightful and moving portrayal as the father. Well done. Be sure to check out my interview with the director on YouTube.
