XAVIER NUEZ: ALLEYS & RUINS

NEW YORK, NY (March 4, 2011) Last night, The Artists Forum checked out the opening for Xavier Nuez’s first NY solo exhibit entitled Alley & Ruins – an exploration of urban decay across America. An eerie and seductive adventure into the night, we found the quality of each photograph to be incredibly detailed and brilliantly composed. The artist explained to us that many of the photographs had long exposures, up to an hour, and was hand lit by him using gel’s and flashlights.

But its not all fun and games, as the artist explained that many times he has encountered gangs and has been mistaken as a terrorist while pursing his art. Thankfully, he has lived to tell and continues to pursue his passion.

This exhibit, held at the Condé Nast Building lobby at 4 Times Square, will be up from March 3rd to April 18, 2011. The exhibit was curated by Lanny Powers of The Durst Organization.

We highly recommend seeing Xavier Nuez’s work and checking out his website: nuez.com
