THE BEST EXOTIC MARIGOLD HOTEL

LOS ANGELES (February 29, 2012) Yesterday, I had the privilege to review The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel. I give this wonderful coming of age for the young and aging a well earned 5 out of 5 Stars. If you were a fan of the film Passage to India from several years ago, then this film is a “must see” for you. John Madden‘s masterful direction clips along at a perfect pace so that the audience never gets ahead of the story. Each actor is so perfectly suited for their role that it is hard tasked to find a favorite. There are several Oscar possibilities for next year here.

I do not know what it is about India — a country so steeped in poverty with only 5% of it’s people making billions that is so transforming to most who go there. Each person’s journey is one that we have seen within our loved ones or ourselves when coming to dealing with current or the next chapters of your life. Perhaps it is based in a faith and in  a perseverance of the human soul.  In this story, without giving away the particulars as I always hate to do. You, the audience, will be transformed and go home feeling renewed.

After the credits rolled and I was preparing to leave the theater, I heard many people saying in passing I can’t wait to see it again. Do yourself a favor and take someone you love to see The Best Marigold Hotel, Opening May 4th 2012.
