LMCC SWING SPACE AT GOVERNORS ISLAND: FLOATING WORLD

NEW YORK, NY (September 13, 2010) The Artists Forum attended yesterday’s opening reception of the new LMCC exhibit Floating World – a group exhibition of works created by the visual artists-in-residence in the inaugural session of Swing Space in Building 110: LMCC’s Arts Center at Governors Island.

Curated by Erin Donnelly and Melissa Levin, the collection of works include multiple genres; from photography to video to sculpture and installation. Several pieces interpret aspects of Governor’s Island’s landscape, seascape, architecture, topography, as well as its vibrant history.

Featured Artists Include: Jae Hi Ahn, Rachel Bacon, Jessica Bruah, David Colosi, Jessica Feldman, Jenn Figg, The Friendly Falcons and Their Friend the Snake, Moo Kwon Han, Wojciech Gilewicz, GH Hovagimyan, Intake Manifold/Ouida Biddle, The Shining Mantis, Sungmi Lee, Sunghee Pae, Birgit Rathsmann, Larry Shea, Hidemi Takagi, Work Progress Collective, Chin Chih Yang, and Maeung Gyun You.

Floating World is free and open to the public, running September 10 – October 10, 2010. 

Getting to Governs Island: The ferry to Governors Island departs regularly from the Battery Maritime Building in Manhattan and Pier 6 in Brooklyn.
